Description
A creamy, comforting skillet dish made with tender pierogi, spicy turkey sausage, spinach, and a rich garlic cream sauce—perfect for a quick and hearty weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 package frozen pierogi (cheese or potato filling)
- 8 oz turkey sausage, sliced (preferably spicy)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for garnish)
- Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
2. Add sliced turkey sausage and cook for 5–7 minutes until browned and cooked through, stirring occasionally.
3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
4. Add the frozen pierogi directly to the skillet and gently stir to combine with the sausage and onions. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and lightly browned.
5. Reduce heat to low and add the fresh spinach. Cook about 2 minutes until wilted.
6. Pour in the heavy cream and sour cream, stirring until well combined.
7. Add dried dill and season with salt and pepper to taste.
8. Let the mixture simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
9. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese if desired, then remove from heat.
10. Serve in shallow bowls garnished with chopped parsley and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan.
Notes
Serve garnished with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.
You can substitute smoked sausage or kielbasa for a stronger, smokier flavor.
For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
